In Kyrgyzstan, March 8 remains one of the most beloved holidays: 79% of residents celebrate it, while another 17% congratulate their loved ones without major festivities.
The main lucky ones on this day are mothers! According to a Wildberries study, 73% of men make sure to prepare gifts for their mothers, while 71% congratulate their wives. Women also take part in the celebrations — 80% of them plan to give gifts to their mothers.
Additionally, gift recipients include sisters (34%), daughters (32%) and friends (17%). Women, besides their mothers, are more likely to congratulate friends (47%), as well as sisters and daughters (42% each).
Flowers and cosmetics remain the most popular gifts among men. At the same time, jewelry and household goods are equally considered as possible gift options.
The top 5 gifts that women in Kyrgyzstan will receive are:
flowers - 62%;
cosmetics and fragrances - 36%;
household goods - 28%;
jewellery - 28%;
clothes and accessories - 22%.
Interestingly, the top three gifts chosen by men align with what women select as gifts for their loved ones on March 8: cosmetics and fragrances (53%), flowers (43%) and household goods (36%).
However, instead of jewelry, their list includes sweets (25%).
The survey showed that our men are among the most generous. The majority of respondents, 30%, reported that they are ready to spend between 10,000 and 30,000 KGS on this day, while another 6% intend to spend more than 30,000 KGS.
For comparison, the majority of respondents in neighboring Kazakhstan, 27%, do not plan to spend more than 10,000 KGS, as well as in Georgia, where 36% of respondents answered the same.
