During the visit, the parties signed a number of important documents, among them an agreement on the state border. This historic step not only concludes negotiations on border issues, but also creates a solid basis for confidence building and further co-operation between the two countries.
Special attention at the talks was paid to the development of economic ties. The two leaders agreed to implement joint projects in key sectors such as industry, energy and investment. Agreements were signed to facilitate the exchange of information on goods and vehicles, as well as to strengthen co-operation in combating illicit transactions, including trade in precious metals and terrorist financing. These measures are designed to stimulate economic growth and improve security in the region.
Re-establishing border and air links
One of the key achievements of the visit was the decision to reopen the state border, which will allow the resumption of trade relations interrupted after the closure of the borders in 2021. In addition, the resumption of air services between Bishkek and Dushanbe was an important step. Regular flights between the capitals of the two countries will be restored from 14 March.
Prospects for co-operation
The visit was a landmark event in the relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, emphasising the desire of both sides to strengthen political and economic cooperation between the two countries.
There are plans to continue active dialogue at the highest level in the near future. It is expected that Sadyr Zhaparov's next visit to Tajikistan will lead to the signing of new agreements aimed at deepening mutually beneficial co-operation and strengthening stability in the region.
