It has been replaced by Colombia, which imported 65.8 tonnes to the Kyrgyz Republic in 2024 against 22.8 tonnes from the Netherlands.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 176.1 tonnes of cut flowers and buds worth $1.2 million in 2024, which is significantly higher than in 2023 (83.7 tonnes worth $651.4 thousand).
Ecuador ranked second with 36.9 tonnes in 2024, followed by China, which increased shipments from 2 tonnes in 2023 to 27.1 tonnes in 2024. The Netherlands, on the other hand, ranked fourth and Kenya closed the list of top 5 largest suppliers.
Flowers from Kazakhstan, Israel and Turkey began to be bought less.
At the same time, the most expensive were flowers from Poland, where an average tonne of flowers cost $28 thousand, from South Africa ($14.5 thousand) and Colombia ($7.4 thousand).
In addition to fresh flowers, Kyrgyzstan also buys artificial flowers. Almost the entire market belongs to China, which imported 247.6 tonnes of the 255.3 tonnes of artificial flowers and products imported into the Kyrgyz Republic.
They were also supplied by Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey and others, but in small quantities.
However, in 2024 Kyrgyzstan also sold them. The total export of artificial flowers was more than 114 tonnes worth about $218 thousand, which is lower than last year, when almost 90 tonnes worth more than $600 thousand were shipped. Uzbekistan was the largest importer, significantly increasing purchases to 109 tonnes.
Russia, on the other hand, reduced imports, purchasing less than 5 tonnes. The USA purchased 300 kg of flowers.
In terms of sales of fresh flowers, the only country that purchased flowers from the Kyrgyz Republic was Russia (7.3 tonnes).
