In December 2002, Kyrgyzavtobank JSC was renamed to Kazkommertsbank-Kyrgyzstan OJSC due to the acquisition and increase of its share of the largest financial institution in Kazakhstan - Kazkommertsbank OJSC. Since March 27, 2015, the Bank has been under the current name of OJSC “Kyrgyzkommertsbank” and operates under the banking license of the NBKR No. 010.
OJSC “Kyrgyzkommertsbank” is a universal bank and provides a wide range of banking services in the Kyrgyz Republic. The main areas of work: placement of deposits, lending, settlements and cash services for legal entities and individuals, operations with securities, foreign currency, derivative financial instruments, issuance and servicing of credit and payment cards.
The Bank has the highest status of Principal Member of the Visa and MasterCard international payment systems, services Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express and Elcard cards, and is also a Principal Member of the China Union Pay payment system.
In February 2016. In February 2016, the Bank obtained the right to conduct transactions with precious metals in the form of refined bullion bars issued by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In June 2017, Japanese public company Sawada Holdings Co. Ltd., whose shares are listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange JASDAQ, acquires a 52.90% stake in Kyrgyzkommertsbank OJSC during the additional share issue. This is the first agreement between financial institutions of Japan and Kyrgyzstan. Foreign investors are very optimistic about the growth prospects in our country. In addition, this agreement will have a favorable impact on the development of the investment climate in the Kyrgyz Republic. Sawada Holdings Financial Corporation was founded in 1958. It operates in the securities market, is engaged in banking, brokerage, insurance and tourism development, as well as has assets in the banking sector, is a controlling shareholder in the largest bank in Mongolia Khan Bank and a major shareholder in the Russian “SOLID Bank”.
The Bank is a participant of the state deposit insurance system in accordance with the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic dated March 7, 2008 (as amended on March 3, 2010) “On Protection of Bank Deposits” and is included in the Register of Participating Banks (No. 03-09 dated August 12, 2009). Thus, the Deposit Protection Agency guarantees the Bank's depositors payment of up to 100,000 KGS in case of insured event.
