7 companies are bidding for the construction of units of Kambar-Ata HPP-2. Among them is Kyrgyz

Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev during the press tour spoke about the ongoing construction process at Kambar-Ata HPP-2. He noted that the first unit with a capacity of 120 megawatts was installed 10 years ago and is now successfully generating electricity.

Now the attention is directed to the second unit. According to the Minister, the site for its installation is already ready, and it is left to install a generator to start generating electricity. A 500 kilovolt automatic switchgear (ASD) will be built to provide power distribution. Later, a third unit will be installed at the site and the total capacity of Kambar Ata HPP-2 will increase to 360 megawatts, with the addition of two new units of 120 megawatts each.

The minister also said that a tender for the construction of the second and third units was held recently. Seventeen companies participated in it, of which seven finalists are currently being selected. The winner of the tender will be selected according to the technical requirements and will have to fulfil the project for $120 million. The participants include Chinese, Russian and Kyrgyz companies, as well as Turkish firms.
