The EAEU has finalised the necessary procedures for the free trade agreement with Iran to enter into force

Andrei Slepnev, Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, participated in a consultative meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and representatives of the business community.

He announced that all the necessary procedures for the entry into force of the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Islamic Republic of Iran have been completed on the EAEU side and are expected to be completed by Iran in the near future.

In his speech, Slepnev expressed confidence that the agreement will be operational in the coming months. He also stressed the importance of not only inter-state cooperation to fully realise the potential of economic interaction, but also strengthening ties between the business communities of the partner countries.

Slepnev called on businesses to actively participate in the implementation of the agreement and take part in new mechanisms of interaction, given Iran's status as an observer to the EAEU. This, he said, will allow for the full disclosure of all the agreements reached.
