    Deputies approved Erkin Checheybayev's candidacy for the post of Minister of Health

    Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh approved the candidacy of Erkin Checheybaev for the post of Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan. He will succeed Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, who left his position. The decision on the appointment was made on 5 February during the meeting of the Parliament, where the relevant submission of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic was also presented.

    During the discussion, the deputies touched upon key problems in the healthcare sector. Dastan Bekeshev and Alisher Kozuev spoke about the need to strengthen disease prevention, Suyunbek Omurzakov - about the activities of state pharmacies ‘El Aman’. Chyngyz Azhibayev noted the need to repair hospitals in Leilek district, and Bakytbek Choibekov emphasised the shortage of medical personnel in the regions, especially in Talas oblast. Marlen Mamataliyev focused on raising doctors' salaries and digitalisation of healthcare, Cholpon Sultanbekova on diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and Erulan Kokulov proposed measures to reduce the cost of medical services and medicines.

    In response to questions, Erkin Checheybayev said that his priorities would be to fight corruption in the health care system, provide the population with medicines and laboratory services, prevent diseases, and build and equip medical centres.
