EU has provided €7 million to Kyrgyzstan to improve access to education

The European Union has channelled financial aid to improve school education in Kyrgyzstan, ensuring its accessibility for all children regardless of gender, ethnicity and language.

Joint EU and Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers initiatives aim to ensure the education system provides skills and qualifications that meet the needs of the labour market and the requirements of modern democratic life.

EU support includes assistance to the Ministry of Education and Science in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), focusing on digital literacy, media literacy and green skills to help effectively prepare students for the future.

The allocated tranche of €7 million is the second of the envisaged disbursements within the framework of the total EU aid of €27 million planned for the implementation of the strategy on the education development in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2023-2026.

In his turn, Deputy Finance Minister Ruslan Tatikov expressed gratitude to the European Union for the strategic partnership and support within the budgetary assistance programmes on behalf of the Ministry of Finance.
