10/24/2024, 13:46Kyrgyzstan is the leader in freight traffic growth among the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries. In January-August 2024, the volume of cargo transportation in the republic increased by 8.5% compared to the analogous period of the last year. Kazakhstan is second with 7% growth, followed by Russia with 6%. Belarus has no data, while Armenia recorded a decline of 13.1%.
It is noteworthy that Kyrgyzstan is the only country in the EAEU that showed an increase in freight traffic by all modes of transport. The highest growth was recorded in air transport, which increased by 84.3%. For comparison, in Kazakhstan, this indicator was only 16.6%, in Armenia - 13.3%, and in Russia - 3.4%.
Kyrgyzstan was also the only country in the EAEU to show growth in railway transport (+0.4%). While in Kazakhstan this indicator decreased by 1.2%, in Russia - by 3.8%, and in Armenia - by 45%.
It should be noted that except for road transport, where Kyrgyzstan was behind Kazakhstan (18.7%) with a growth rate of 11.5%, the republic demonstrates the highest growth rates in other modes of transport.
In addition, Kyrgyzstan has seen steady growth in air cargo throughout 2024: in January-April, the growth was 142.9%, in January-May - 100%, in January-June - 92.9%, and in January-July - 79.7%. According to the Eurasian Economic Commission statistics, in the first quarter of 2024, the growth of air cargo transportation in Kyrgyzstan reached a record 4.2 thousand per cent compared to the analogous period last year.
