02/25/2025, 08:43Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are negotiating the signing of an agreement providing for duty-free oil supplies to Kyrgyzstan. The issue was discussed during the official meeting of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov in Astana.
According to Kasymaliyev, agreement and signing of the Agreement on duty-free oil supply to Kyrgyzstan is an important step to ensure energy stability and reduce the cost of fuel for Kyrgyz consumers.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers also dwelt on a number of other topical issues.
“Construction of an industrial trade and logistics complex on the border of our countries will optimize cargo transportation processes, reduce costs for business and increase the efficiency of bilateral trade. Construction of a ferroalloy plant in Tash-Kumyr will open new opportunities for industrial cooperation, increase production and export of high value-added products. Creation of a trade and logistics warehouse for storing fruits and vegetables on the territory of Almaty region will ensure uninterrupted supplies of fresh products, improve trade turnover and increase food security of our countries,” Adylbek said
Kasymaliyev added that the successful implementation of these initiatives will serve as an additional incentive to strengthen economic cooperation, create new jobs and attract investment in the economies of the two countries.
In turn, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov expressed support for this direction and noted that Kazakhstan is ready to continue work on the development of trade and economic relations with Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized that the bilateral trade turnover between the countries is steadily growing, and in 2024 reached $1.7 billion. The Kazakh side intends to strengthen work to further expand economic cooperation.
