China strengthens economic ties with neighbouring countries, including Kyrgyzstan

Trade turnover between China and neighbouring countries continues to grow, confirming the effectiveness of years of cooperation in the region. According to 2024 data, the trade volume between China and Kyrgyzstan reached $22.71 billion, up $2.9 billion year-on-year.

At a press conference on March 7, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that economic integration with neighbouring countries remains an important part of China's development strategy. He said the country has signed cooperation agreements under the «One Belt and One Road’ initiative with 25 neighbouring states, and consensus has been reached with 17 of them to form a ‘community of common destiny».

«China continues to expand openness, including unilaterally, to share the fruits of its development», — Wang Yi said.

Kyrgyzstan occupies an important place in regional cooperation, being part of the Central Asian Trade Corridor. In 2024, China's exports to Kyrgyzstan totalled $19.91 billion, while Kyrgyzstan's exports to China totalled $2.80 billion, mainly minerals, textiles, agricultural goods and equipment.

China remains the largest trading partner for 18 countries in the region, and the Asian market maintains a steady growth rate. Wang Yi said the countries in the region continue to strengthen economic ties and overcome emerging differences through equal consultation and mutual concessions.
