Kyrgyzstan has called on the World Bank to strengthen its support for key projects, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway

During the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Kyrgyzstan proposed expanding strategic regional projects in Central Asia, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach to the region's development.

Speaking on behalf of the country, the delegation expressed gratitude for the long-standing partnership with the World Bank, noting the significant role of its support in Kyrgyzstan's economic and institutional reforms. In particular, since 2022, the economy has shown steady growth of 9% per year on average, with a reduction in public debt, stabilization of inflation, and a doubling of GDP per capita.

The representative of Kyrgyzstan emphasized that these achievements were made possible thanks to close cooperation with the World Bank, which acts not only as a financial donor but also as a strategic partner. Particular emphasis was placed on the need to support key regional projects, such as the Kambarata hydropower plant and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. These initiatives were named as key elements of cross-border infrastructure, ensuring sustainable development, energy and water security, and deeper inter-state integration.

Kyrgyzstan also called for Central Asia to be viewed as a single economic and cultural space with rich natural and human resources, noting the need to overcome challenges in the areas of technology and sustainable natural resource use. Mining, climate resilience, digitalization, and technology transfer were identified as priorities.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan supported the revision of World Bank country quotas and the expansion of a regional approach to resource allocation.
