The Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy announced the beginning of the development of a new version of the Law “On Energy” according to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers dated August 28, 2024. The main goal of the draft law is to strengthen the country's energy security and ensure energy availability for all citizens.

The draft law is designed to ensure the safe operation of energy facilities, improve their reliability, efficient use of resources, and stimulate competition in the energy market.

Important objectives of the draft law are to protect the interests of different categories of consumers, especially the poor, maintain clean energy sources, reduce harmful emissions and develop transparent rules for market participants.

The bill also provides mechanisms for fair dispute resolution, support for research and the introduction of innovative technologies in the energy sector.

The Ministry encourages the public and all interested parties to take part in the discussion and make suggestions on how to improve the law.
