Intellectual rights violations on marketplaces: 340,000 complaints and 1.7 mln goods inspected over the year

The problem of intellectual property protection on marketplaces remains one of the most acute in e-commerce. According to the data of the joint company Wildberries and Russ (LLC “RVB”), over 340 thousand appeals from right holders were filed through the “Digital Arbitration” service in 2024, within the framework of which over 1.7 million product cards were checked.

Of these, more than 1 million items were hidden from the site's storefront.

In 270 thousand cases, the disputes were settled directly between the parties without involving the platform's lawyers. In other situations, the Wildberries team intervened in the process.

Company representative Alexander Nazarov, speaking at the Conference of Innovative Technologies of Electronic Commerce (KIT), noted that the introduction of automatic procedures and an updated interface has reduced the reaction time of sellers - the card is hidden if the supporting documents are not provided within 10 days. Previously, this period was as long as 30 days.

Additionally, in 2025, the platform introduced preventive measures: blocking the republishing of cards and filtering duplicate complaints, as well as plans to launch enhanced protection of articles for which the right to sell has already been confirmed.

Statistics on digital arbitration show not only the growing attention of right holders to their interests, but also the need to improve intellectual property protection mechanisms against the background of increasing commodity turnover in the online space.
