The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry reports that breeders have developed five varieties of wheat, three varieties of barley, two hybrids of corn, and three hybrids of sugar beet. There are also two varieties of cotton and potatoes, five varieties of tomatoes and three varieties of peppers.
In the context of climate change, the Institute pays special attention to the development of drought-resistant, high-yielding and high-quality varieties adapted to local conditions. The new varieties are characterized by resistance to diseases and pests, high productivity and short vegetation period, which makes them in demand in modern agriculture.
These developments will help increase crop yields and strengthen the country's food security.
