10/10/2024, 14:37In Bishkek, the public transport fare for non-cash payment remains at 17 KGS, while cash payment is 20 KGS. This difference of 3 KGS encourages passengers to use non-cash payments via ‘Tulpar’ cards, electronic wallets and bank cards. This was stated in the Mayor's Office.
The introduction of cashless payment is aimed to improve the safety and quality of passenger transport and to reduce corruption risks associated with cash payments. According to the Bishkek Mayor's Office, cash payments can distract drivers and increase the risk of road accidents, which leads to financial losses and threatens the passengers' health.
At the same time, the mayor's office has submitted for public discussion a proposal to increase payments and the possible introduction of a fare that would allow passengers to make transfers within a certain time with one ticket. When developing the project, the municipality takes into account citizens' opinions.
