Bishkek started to install Chinese catalytic converters on cars

Bishkek City Hall has started the experience of installing catalytic converters on cars. The equipment was developed and proposed by the State University of Qingdao in China.

The project is being implemented as part of measures aimed at improving the environmental situation in the capital and reducing air pollution. The experiment makes it possible to test the impact of catalysts on reducing emissions of harmful particles.

The equipment was installed by three public figures proposed for the experiment - Bolot Ibragimov, Deputy Chairman of the Bishkek City Council, bloggers Maxim Zolotykh and Aibek Erkinbek uulu.

Specialists from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Control used a gas analyser to test these cars before and after the installation of the catalysts to assess the impact of the equipment on emissions.

The results of the study will help to accurately determine the impact of the catalysts on air quality in Bishkek and to develop further steps to improve the environmental condition of the city.

It should be noted that the main sources of air pollution are the private sector (40%) and old cars, which account for 30% of the total number of pollution sources.

There are almost 334 thousand cars registered in Bishkek with a service life of more than 15 years.
