12/08/2024, 14:35In Kyrgyzstan, 18 thousand 139 small and medium-sized enterprises are actively functioning, of which 17 thousand 237 are small companies. The SME sector continues to play an important role in the country's economy, providing a significant share of jobs and production.
The largest number of SMEs is concentrated in the capital Bishkek, where 65.7% of the total number of such companies are registered. At the same time, throughout the country, small and medium-sized businesses employ 585.8 thousand people. The largest number of jobs is concentrated in Bishkek, where 117 thousand people work. The capital is followed by Osh oblast (98 thousand jobs) and Chui oblast (97.2 thousand).
In addition, small and medium-sized enterprises play a significant role in the manufacturing sector. They provide 26% of total industrial production and 65% of agricultural output. The sectors of hotel and restaurant business, as well as trade, are 90% composed of SMEs.
