Kyrgyzstan will have a new fuel levy to finance roads

On 1 January 2025, Kyrgyzstan will introduce a new levy for road repair, maintenance and construction. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the relevant decree to increase revenues to the Road Fund.

The levies will be paid by companies that import or produce petrol and diesel fuel. There is a fixed fee of KGS 1 for each litre of fuel. This money will be used exclusively for road improvement: repair, construction and reconstruction.

So far, the levies affect only importers and producers, but it cannot be ruled out that it may affect the cost of fuel at petrol stations.

The government promises that these measures will help improve the condition of roads across the country and develop transport infrastructure.
