The National Hospital purchased equipment for 15 million soms and conducted the first cochlear implant surgeries

The first cochlear implantation surgeries were conducted at the National Hospital. Two patients were successfully operated on and their condition is stable. This became possible due to the purchase of modern medical equipment for the treatment of ear, throat and nose diseases.

Lithuanian otolaryngologist Gedrius Gilis, an expert in the field of cochlear implantation, was invited to Kyrgyzstan to perform operations and improve the skills of domestic specialists. He conducted joint operations with Kyrgyz surgeons and a master class, during which he taught local specialists modern techniques.

For high-tech surgeries, the ENT department of the National Hospital purchased an audiometer for hearing diagnostics, an impedance audiometer for measuring auditory function, a rhinoscopic complex, and an ENT microscope. The total purchase amounted to more than 15 million soms.

The new equipment will be used not only for cochlear implantation surgeries, but also for treatment of other complex ENT diseases. And such operations will continue to increase in the future.
