12/01/2024, 17:39The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has decided to grant tariff relief in the form of an exemption from import customs duty for certain types of cattle meat designated for meat production.
This decision allows for the importation of such goods in 2025 with specific quotas set: up to 9,000 tons for the Republic of Armenia, 7,500 tons for the Republic of Belarus, 2,500 tons for the Kyrgyz Republic, and up to 100,000 tons for the Russian Federation.
"The customs-tariff regulation measure aims to address the raw meat shortage in the internal market of the Eurasian Economic Union, facilitating the production of ready-to-eat meat and sausage products by processing enterprises, reducing production costs, and curbing price increases in finished products," stated EEC Minister of Trade Andrey Slepnev.
He emphasized that the tariff relief will be exclusively for cattle meat intended for industrial processing and finished product production, contingent upon the approval by an authorized body confirming the intended use of the imported goods. This meat does not encompass high-quality beef, predominantly produced domestically.
The shortage of this meat raw material in Union countries is primarily supplemented by imports from Latin America and India.
