Within the framework of the spring meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C., the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev met with the Executive Director of the World Bank Group for Switzerland Beatrice Mazer.

During the meeting, Adylbek Kasymaliev presented the Kyrgyz government's ambitious plans, which are based on achieving an economic growth rate of 13 per cent in the first quarter of 2025.

«This growth confirms the effectiveness of our economic policy and creates a solid basis for the implementation of the National Development Programme until 2030», — said the head of the Ministry of Economy.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation in the spheres of energy, industrialisation, development of a regional trade and logistics hub, agriculture, tourism, transition to ‘green’ energy.

Special attention was paid to the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 construction project.

«Kambar-Ata HPP-1 is a key element of energy security not only for Kyrgyzstan, but also for the entire Central Asian region, its implementation will attract significant foreign investment and strengthen the economic stability of the region», — said the head of the Ministry of Energy, adding that a historic agreement on border demarcation has been signed with Tajikistan.

In turn, Beatrice Mazer announced her planned visit to Kyrgyzstan in June this year to study the prospects of co-operation in more detail.

«Kyrgyzstan has a unique potential, and as someone born in Switzerland, I see similarities between our countries: I believe that the World Bank can play an important role in supporting Kyrgyzstan's sustainable development», — he concluded.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in further strengthening of co-operation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the World Bank. Adylbek Kasymaliev thanked Beatrice Mazer for the constructive dialogue and expressed confidence in fruitful cooperation in the implementation of priority projects for Kyrgyzstan.
