03/03/2025, 14:03For the full year 2024, the State Tax Service (STS) collected 839.4 million KGS from the bank accounts of debtors in favor of the state. The entire amount was written off under the tax payment request, an instrument that allows the tax authority to forcibly collect debts through banks.
On October 1, the STS imposed 4 thousand 433 fines for late payment of taxes. Of these, 3 thousand 30 fines were collected from the settlement accounts of debtors for 839.4 million KGS.
At the same time, the debt to the STS continues to grow, despite the active application of the mechanism of compulsory collection. Thus, as of April 1, the tax service imposed 2 thousand 501 fines, of which 299 were collected for the amount of 84.6 million KGS. Already by July 1, the number of fines increased to 3 thousand 301 (+800), and the amount recovered from bank accounts increased to 481.2 million KGS (589 fines).
It should be reminded that the possibility of tax authorities to write off money from bank accounts on account of unpaid taxes was actively discussed in 2024, although the STS has had this right since 1996. However, earlier it was used only for writing off debts of large companies, but now this practice extends to small and medium-sized businesses.
