04/09/2025, 10:06Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have agreed on mutual recognition and exchange of national driving licences. The relevant decision was approved by the Government of Tajikistan. The document was published on the information and legal portal of the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan.
According to the document, citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will be able to exchange their driving licences without having to take a theoretical or practical test. This will be possible if they have a temporary or permanent residence permit in the other country. At the same time, the parties undertake to recognise valid driving licences issued in their respective countries.
The exchange procedure will be carried out within the framework of national legislation. The competent authorities will be able to request the original driving licence with a certified translation, a medical certificate and other necessary documents. In case of doubt about the authenticity of a document, the parties will be able to send requests to each other for verification.
The agreement does not cover driving licences issued on the basis of third country rights. Interaction on the implementation of the agreement will be conducted in Russian. The agreement will enter into force 30 days after both countries have finalised all internal procedures.
