    Kyrgyzstan and Japan signed a contract for the construction of a tunnel on the Bishkek-Osh motorwa

    The Ministry of Transport and Communications signed an agreement with a Japanese company within the framework of the initiative «Improvement of trunk roads of international importance».

    The ceremony was attended by Minister Absattar Syrgabaev, his deputy Beknazar Bazaraliev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Hideki Goda, Permanent Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Kyrgyzstan Hiroyuki Kawamoto and other officials.

    As part of the project, a contract was signed with the Japanese company Takenaka Civil Engineering for the construction of a 750-metre long tunnel at the 400th kilometre of the Bishkek-Osh road.

    The Minister expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan and the JICA Agency for their significant contribution to the development of transport infrastructure of the republic. The parties expressed their desire for quality and timely implementation of the project. The start of construction works is scheduled for June 2025.
