01/29/2025, 08:54Kyrgyzstan and Great Britain are strengthening cooperation in the field of labor migration. At the meeting of the Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic R.A. Sabirov with the British Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nicholas Bowler, the prospects of expanding employment programs for Kyrgyz citizens abroad were discussed.
The Minister noted the increase in the number of Kyrgyz citizens working in the UK under the seasonal employment program in agriculture. If in 2022 there were 1 thousand 492 people, in 2023 the number increased to 5.2 thousand, and in 2024 it already reached 8 thousand 131 people. And 3 thousand 855 workers were employed through the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad, and 4 thousand 276 - through private agencies.
In addition, remittances of migrant workers from Great Britain exceeded $100 million, which already has a tangible impact on the economy of Kyrgyzstan.
In turn, Ambassador Bowler praised the discipline of Kyrgyz citizens, emphasizing that migrants comply with visa and migration requirements, which creates favorable conditions for further cooperation.
During the meeting, the Kyrgyz side presented a number of proposals, including increasing quotas for seasonal agricultural work and optimizing visa procedures. The British Ambassador expressed readiness to support Kyrgyzstan's initiatives.
