10/09/2024, 13:52The Ministry of Justice has announced the launch of a major reform to improve the representation institution in court in civil cases. The initiative is to eliminate the existing legislative gaps and enhance the quality of court representation, which remains virtually unregulated. This creates problems for citizens‘ rights protection and reduces the court processes’ efficiency.
The reform provides for the introduction of professional standards for representatives in court proceedings. The main objectives of the reform - to increase of the quality and efficiency of legal representation, improve citizens' access to justice, and ensure transparency and accountability of representatives to clients and the judicial system.
One of the key areas of the reform is the mechanism for the professional provision of legal services by court representatives establishment. A clear regulation of qualification requirements and professional standards' introduction for court representatives will also be introduced. Certification of representatives will become mandatory, and for their self-regulation, an association of court representatives' collegiate will be created, responsible for maintaining a unified register and observing ethical standards. One of the most important aspects will be a new draft law development on the status of court representatives.
