Ministries and flour mills sign agreement to curb rising flour prices

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce signed a cooperation agreement between the ministries of Economy and Commerce, Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, as well as the Antimonopoly Regulation Service and enterprises of the flour milling industry.

The agreement is aimed at curbing the growth of flour prices in the context of ensuring the country's food security, uninterrupted supply of the population with high-quality wheat flour and livestock feed at affordable prices. It also takes into account the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on providing a temporary benefit for flour mills, which contributes to the stability of prices for socially significant goods.

Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov emphasized the importance of implementing the signed agreement, noting that flour and bakery products are basic food products, and their availability to the population is a key task of state policy in the field of food security.

The President of the Association of Flour Mills also noted the effectiveness of the extension of the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution on zeroing out VAT on grain and flour at the end of 2024. According to him, this decision will have a positive effect on the industry and will allow domestic millers to provide the country with their own grain, reducing dependence on imports.
