The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov met with the Managing Director of the World Bank in the rank of Vice President Vensai Zhang. The talks focused on key aspects of cooperation, particularly, the implementation of strategic energy projects and sustainable development financing.

Akylbek Zhaparov singled out the construction of Kambarata HPP-1 as a strategically important project not only for our country but for the entire Central Asian region as well. He emphasized the importance of the project for environmental security and providing clean energy to the region, which fits into the global green agenda.

"The Kambarata HPP-1 construction will allow generating electricity in winter and storing water for agricultural needs in summer. This will not only ensure a stable power supply in winter but will also improve food security in the region,” the head of the Cabinet said, adding that the project will also strengthen the KR's position in sustainable development.

Wensai Zhang confirmed the World Bank's readiness to support Kyrgyzstan in the  Kambarata HPP-1 construction, emphasizing the importance of the project for the region. He also noted that the World Bank is interested in further cooperation aimed at sustainable water resources use and the development of green energy.

Apart from the energy sector, the sides discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in other areas, including social projects, infrastructure development, agriculture and water supply systems. They also considered the prospects of introducing new technologies in the energy sector, which would increase resource efficiency and reduce environmental damage.

Both sides expressed confidence that joint efforts will lead to the establishment of a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy system in Kyrgyzstan and important sustainable development issues resolution in Central Asia.
