12/27/2024, 09:18In 2023, the volume of fuel and energy resources of the republic amounted to 18.1 million tons of conditional fuel, up 1.6% year-on-year and 10% in 2019. At the same time, domestic consumption reached 14.1 million tons, which is 2.2% higher than in 2022. Such data is provided by the National Statistical Committee.
Coal production, used mainly in the domestic market, rose to 4.2 million tons, up 10.6% from 2022 and 1.6 times higher than in 2019. The share of coal in total consumption amounted to 43.8%.
The petroleum products segment saw an increase in production: diesel output increased by 9% to 125.7 thousand tons year-on-year, while diesel imports decreased by 22.1% relative to 2019. However, the total supply of petroleum products continues to be covered by external sources.
Motor gasoline production reached 25.8 thousand tons, up 6.2% from 2022, but this is nearly 75% below the 2019 level. Gasoline imports are down 14.6% year-over-year, but up 1.8% from 2019.
In the heating oil segment, production increased by 6.5% in 2023 and 1.5 times from 2019.
At the same time, the country's needs in aviation kerosene are fully covered by imports. In the natural gas segment, the share of imports amounted to 94%. Domestic production grew by 12.3% year-on-year to 27.4 million cubic meters in 2019.
63.2% of gas was used for direct consumption as fuel, while 31% was used for conversion to other forms of energy.
Electricity production in 2023 decreased by 1.3% to 13.8 billion kWh. Compared to 2019, the decline was 8.4%. About 87% of electricity was produced by hydroelectric power plants. Electricity exports amounted to 138.4 million kWh, while domestic consumption reached 17.2 billion kWh.
Thermal power production decreased by 6% year-over-year, but increased by 2.5% year-on-year to 2.9 million gigacalories in 2019.
