A National Council on Family and Gender Development has been established in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, a National Council focused on family, gender development, social protection and children's rights has been established under the Cabinet of Ministers. The decision was signed by Cabinet Chairman Akylbek Zhaparov.

The new structure is focused on improving coordination and control over the implementation of measures to protect children's rights, strengthen family values, support the institution of marriage and family, as well as combating gender discrimination and violence.

An important area of work will be the protection of children in difficult life situations, support for gender development and promotion of women's leadership, social initiatives and women's entrepreneurship, contributing to the economic empowerment of women, and strengthening their role in ensuring peace and security.

The establishment of the National Council is justified by the need for a comprehensive approach to addressing social problems. It will bring together the efforts of various organizations to formulate and implement strategies on the family and children's rights. The Council would be the key body for the protection of children's rights, focusing its efforts on preventing violations and improving their living conditions. The implementation of gender equality policies to promote equality in family and labor relations will also be an important task.

The Council will develop instruments of social protection for families in difficult circumstances and support for victims of violence and discrimination. It will become a platform for interaction between government bodies, international and civil society organizations, ensuring effective coordination on family, gender development, social protection and children's rights.
