According to him, now even schoolchildren ride these vehicles - and no one is responsible for it.
“Anyone can buy a scooter, take to the road and fly on it at 60 km/h. It's not far to total chaos. We are already turning into Southeast Asia, where everyone drives as they please,” he said.
Bekeshev suggested issuing licenses not by engine capacity, as now, but by speed. If a scooter can go faster than 50km/h, it needs a license.
He appealed to the representative of the president and the government with a proposal to instruct the Unaa institution to develop a system for issuing such licenses.
Recall that in many cities around the world - Paris, Amsterdam, Toronto and some Russian cities - scooters are already banned. The reason is the growing number of accidents, confusion on the streets and lack of rules. People throw scooters anywhere, ride without helmets and licenses, and sometimes even while drunk.
