The Ministry of Education discussed how to improve school meals

The Ministry of Education and Science held a meeting to discuss and approve the final report ‘Systematic Approach to Improving Education Results (SABER): National Capacity Assessment in School Feeding’.

The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, international partner organisations, and the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva.

The goal of the SABER initiative is to help identify the strengths and weaknesses of the school feeding system and develop effective policies to improve it at the state level.
During the evaluation, the UN World Food Programme prepared an analytical review of the current state of school feeding in Kyrgyzstan, which analyses the programme's compliance with current political and legal norms.

A draft roadmap with recommendations for further improvement of the school feeding programme was also presented at the meeting. The issues of public policy, financial sustainability, institutional coordination and community involvement were important aspects for improving the system.
