    In January, Kyrgyzstan managed to spend more than 4 billion soms on debt servicing

    Kyrgyzstan continues to ensure fulfillment of its debt obligations. In January this year, the Ministry of Finance allocated 4 billion 27.1 million soms from the national budget to service the state debt. Most of this amount, almost 75%, went to repay external debt.

    In particular, in January Kyrgyzstan spent 3 billion 15.4 million soms of budget funds to cover obligations to external creditors. Another 1 billion 11.7 million KGS was spent on servicing domestic debt.

    Repayment of public debt in January included both principal payments and interest charges. 2 billion 541.5 million KGS was spent on principal payments of external debt and 467.4 million KGS on interest, another 6.5 million KGS went to cover other expenses. The internal debt required less funds - 84 million KGS for the principal amount and 927.7 million KGS for interest.

    It is worth noting that for the whole of 2024, 59 billion 855.5 million soms were allocated for servicing the public debt. Of this amount, 37 billion 571.9 million KGS was spent on servicing external debt, and 22 billion 283.6 million KGS - on domestic debt.
