EEC discusses simplification of amendments to customs declarations

The Eurasian Economic Commission continues to work on simplifying customs procedures. At a meeting of the working group on customs declaration under the specialized Advisory Committee, issues related to making changes to the declaration of goods both before and after their release were considered. Special attention was paid to reducing the administrative burden on participants in foreign economic activity.

During the discussion, the experts noted the need to reduce the number of documents required when making changes to the declaration, as well as to fix the priority of electronic adjustments over paper forms.

The possibilities of sending customs authorities' decisions in electronic format and specifying the cases when written documents remain mandatory were considered.

The current procedure for adjusting declarations is regulated by Decision of the Customs Union Commission No. 289 of December 10, 2013. However, in light of digitalization and the desire to speed up procedures, there is a need to revise it.
