As the Ministry of Economy explained to Akchabar, the recent presidential decree did not abolish the moratorium itself, but only invalidated the regulatory act by which it was introduced.
The ministry noted that even if the moratorium had been extended, the number of exceptions to it would have been significant. In recent years, inspections of tax and customs services, food safety, as well as control by the National Bank and license inspections were not subject to restrictions.
In addition, there have been proposals to exclude from the moratorium inspections of antimonopoly authorities and alcohol regulation and terrorism financing structures. As a result, even if the moratorium were extended, the number of exceptions to it would be very large because of the need for control in these areas. In fact, it would have left only inspections of counting authorities in it.
“During the five years of the moratorium, businesses have been given enough time to adapt to the requirements of the legislation. It is time to return to the standard order of inspections. Compliance with the law is an integral part of doing business, and companies must comply with it,” the Ministry of Economy explained.
Thus, from January 1, 2025, business inspections resumed in full.
