Karakol named as the adventure capital of Central Asia

US magazine Condé Nast Traveler has included the Kyrgyz city of Karakol in its list of ‘25 Best Places to Visit in 2025’, labelling it as the adventure capital of Central Asia. The city on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul is recognised as an ideal destination for outdoor activities including hiking, horseback riding, paragliding and winter sports.

The authors of the article emphasised the region's unique opportunities: the Karakol ski base, the highest mountain resort in Central Asia, and the new Three Summits ski complex. Tourists are also attracted by the city's cultural diversity, local specialities such as ashlan-fu, and architectural attractions including the Dungan Mosque and yurt camps.

Condé Nast Traveler noted that the opening of an international airport has made Karakol even more accessible. The city is ideal for trekking in the summer and winter activities in the cold season, offering tourists a mix of adventure, culture and culinary discovery.
