    Kyrgyzstan more than 1.5 times increased collection of “tax on Google”

    Kyrgyzstan has seen an increase in revenues from the tax on electronic services, commonly known as the “tax on Google”. According to the results of 11 months of 2024, foreign companies transferred 705.6 million KGS to the budget of the country in the form of VAT on electronic services.

    This figure is 267.9 million soms, or 1.6 times more than in the same period of 2023, when the amount of collections amounted to 437.6 million soms.

    The tax on electronic services was introduced in Kyrgyzstan in 2022. According to the State Tax Service, more than 40 foreign companies, including technology giants such as Google, pay it today.

    By comparison, neighboring Kazakhstan has also had a similar tax in place since 2022. In 2024, the neighbors collected KZT34.9 bln (approximately $66.4 mln).
