    Kyrgyzstan in 2025 starts repayment of domestic debt taken from 2018

    In 2025, Kyrgyzstan will have to repay the principal amount of domestic debt borrowed in the period from 2018 to 2023. The total amount of liabilities is estimated at 11 billion 137.1 million KGS. These payments are related to the repayment of 2-year, 3-year, 5-year and 7-year government treasury bonds.

    The largest part of liabilities falls on 7-year bonds - 4 billion 971.5 million KGS. These securities were borrowed at 11%-14.87% per annum with a coupon of 8%. Repayment is carried out from February to November 2025. Of this amount, 2.1 billion KGS was already due in February, another 1.3 billion KGS is to be repaid in May, 400 million KGS in August and 1 billion 171.5 million KGS in November.

    The next major repayment item is 5-year government bonds worth KGS 3 billion 960.3 million. Their repayment is also scheduled during the year. As of today, 1.2 billion KGS should already be paid on these securities, raised in the period from February 7 to February 20, 2020. Funds on 5-year bonds were borrowed at 10.6%-10.91% per annum.

    Also in 2025, Kyrgyzstan will have to repay 2 billion 205.3 million KGS on 2- and 3-year bonds, of which 446.1 million KGS were already due in February.

    Thus, the country is entering the active phase of fulfilling its domestic debt obligations.
