03/17/2025, 08:51Kumtor Gold Company Closed Joint Stock Company made an official statement regarding the statements of Adilet Usupbekov, Head of the Laboratory of Geobotany and Specially Protected Natural Areas at the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. At a meeting of the Alliance faction of the Jogorku Kenesh, Usupbekov expressed concern about a possible environmental disaster.
The company says these claims have no objective grounds. According to available data, the current actual displacement is within the forecast values for 2023 and does not reach the estimated values for 2025. The current distance to the 2025 predicted offset boundary is 160 meters and to the Kumtor River is approximately one kilometer.
The scientific studies predict changes in the geotechnical condition of the dumps and provide recommendations to ensure their stability and prevent environmental risks such as collapse and water pollution. The dumps are a waste rock mass that does not contain harmful chemical elements and does not pose a threat to the environment.

Currently, the Engineering Center “Askatesh” at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Automation and Geomechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic is conducting research work to assess the stability and modeling of the movement of the Kumtor mine dumps for the period 2024-2041.
