Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will create a “green corridor” for agricultural exports

Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have agreed to create a “green corridor” for the unimpeded export of Kyrgyz agricultural products, which will be an important step in strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobayev and Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin in Astana. The parties discussed key areas of cooperation, including trade, energy and migration issues.

The creation of a “green corridor” will allow Kyrgyz agricultural producers to export products to Kazakhstan with minimal administrative barriers and in an accelerated mode. To implement this initiative, Kyrgyz Agroholding OJSC together with Kaztrade JSC and the Committee of Trade of Kazakhstan will begin work on determining the list and volumes of products to be supplied under this mechanism.

In addition, the parties agreed to work together on the organization of oil supplies to Kyrgyzstan, the formation of a working group to simplify migration rules for citizens of both countries and the possibility of Kazakhstan's application of preferential tariffs for railway transportation of socially important goods in transit.

Torobaev and Zhumangarin emphasized the importance of the agreements reached and reaffirmed the commitment to the active implementation of strategic initiatives identified by the leaders of the two countries.
