10/10/2024, 12:16Today, 10 October, at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh deputies considered and passed in the second reading the bill on ratification of the agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association (IDA) on the additional project ‘Sustainable Development of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation’ funding. The agreement was signed on 15 April 2024 in Washington DC.
The project aims to improve water supply and sanitation systems in rural areas. In particular, it is planned to construct new and rehabilitate existing drinking water supply systems, improve sanitation conditions and install local treatment facilities in Osh and Issyk-Kul oblasts. The project will cover 11 settlements and envisages the construction of sewerage systems for multi-storey houses.
The amount of additional financing from IDA is $7.64 million. The loan is for a term of 50 years with a 10-year grace period and an interest rate of 0%.
