The Mayor of Bishkek conducted an inspection of the Ala-Archa riverbed: violations were revealed

On 5 April, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev conducted a field inspection of the Ala-Archa riverbed on Altymysheva and Maldybaeva Streets. The inspection revealed cases of wastewater discharge and non-compliance with the requirements for the improvement of the coastal zone. The owners of the facilities were instructed to eliminate violations, and the municipal inspection was instructed to impose fines in accordance with the Code of Offences. The lack of pavements and the need to confirm the legality of some construction projects along the river were also noted.

Control over the use of water fund lands is carried out within the framework of the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 79 of 18 February 2025. The Mayor's Office checks whether the plots are used for their intended purpose and whether the owners have the necessary permits. Particular attention is paid to illegal development of the water protection zone, which is directly related to the risks of pollution, flooding and violation of urban planning regulations.

Citizens were reminded that the minimum width of the water protection zone in Bishkek is 15 metres, according to the order of the Ministry of Environment №111-p of 3 May 2023. In case of non-compliance of objects with these norms, the municipality will seek dismantling and sanctions. The authorities emphasise: management of territories around water bodies requires not only compliance with the law, but also long-term planning in the interests of the environment and sustainable development of urban infrastructure.
