The Energy Minister proposed that 1 per cent of Kambar Ata-1's energy be channelled to the population

Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev held a meeting with Hugh Riddell, Head of the World Bank Group Office. The main topic of the talks was the implementation of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP construction project. The parties discussed the work already done and plans for further development of the project.

The Minister of Energy expressed gratitude to the World Bank for support, noting that due to the allocated $18.6 million the feasibility study of the project is being updated.

Taalaibek Ibraev also spoke about preparatory work, including road construction, tunnel concreting, laying power lines and building a bridge over the Naryn River. For example, the road to the HPP site is already 22.32% concreted, and the TT-2 transport tunnel is 100% complete.

The Minister proposed a number of initiatives to support local residents. These include providing jobs after construction is completed, channelling 1% of the electricity generated to the community, helping low-income families and training 1,000 power students. The construction of a reserve power line and provision of drinking water were also discussed.

The parties agreed on further steps to start construction works and confirmed their readiness for close co-operation for the successful implementation of the project.
