Immediately after the fire, six fire brigades and two ladders arrived at the scene. The origin of the fire was in the basement, but thick smoke spread to the first floor and upper levels of the building.
At the time of the incident, repairs were underway at NCCIT, which could have been one of the possible causes of the fire. An investigation is currently underway.
A total of 260 people were removed from the building, including 216 patients and 44 employees. According to the Ministry of Health, 47 patients were taken to other medical centers, including 22 children. According to preliminary data, the fire started in the basement. The head of the Ministry of Health Erkin Checheybayev told reporters that one of the reasons for the rapid spread of fire and smoke could be the ventilation system. It is still being specified how many floors were engulfed in flames.
Deputy Cabinet Chief Edil Baisalov, Health Minister Erkin Checheybayev, Emergencies Minister Boobek Azhikeyev, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev, and other officials were at the scene.
