The volume of tobacco products production in Kyrgyzstan in January increased almost threefold, reaching 4.03 million KGS compared to 1.48 million KGS in the same period last year. According to the National Statistical Committee, the main centers of tobacco production in the country are Bishkek and Batken oblast.

A year ago, the leader of the industry was Batken oblast, where in January 2024 the production volume amounted to 774 thousand soms. This year, the indicator grew by 5.1% in value terms, reaching 813.2 thousand soms, and the physical volume of production increased by 3%.

However, despite the growth, the region lost the leadership to the capital. Bishkek showed a significant increase in volumes - production of tobacco products in value terms increased 4.6 times, reaching 3.22 million KGS, and the physical volume increased by 16.7%.

According to the Ministry of Justice, 83 companies engaged in the production of tobacco products are registered in Kyrgyzstan, of which 12 have ceased operations.
