The period of temporary stay in Russia for Kyrgyz citizens will be reduced to 90 days

On January 1, 2025, amendments to Russian legislation will come into force, limiting the period of temporary stay of foreign citizens entering without a visa to 90 days per calendar year. The changes are regulated by Federal Law No. 260-FZ of August 8, 2024. Exceptions are possible for those who stay in Russia on the grounds provided for by law, including labor activity, training or obtaining temporary residence.

Kyrgyz citizens should keep in mind a number of requirements: upon entry, a migration card must be filled out if the period of stay exceeds 30 days. Registration at the place of stay is not required for the first 30 days, but after this period it is mandatory. It is possible to work without permits if there is an employment or civil law contract, but employers are obliged to notify the Ministry of Internal Affairs about labor relations within three working days. Mandatory procedures for fingerprinting, photographing and medical examination have also been introduced.

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Labor recommends that citizens strictly follow migration rules, use only official channels for processing documents, and sign written rental agreements. Failure to comply with the new requirements may result in a shortened period of stay or deportation.
