    Strat tour season: Issyk-Kul will become a venue for a marathon, forum and ethno-festival

    On May 3 in Cholpon-Ata, on the coast of Lake Issyk-Kul, the official opening of the tourist season of Kyrgyzstan will take place. The event will be held as part of a campaign to develop domestic tourism and promote the country's tourism potential.

    One of the central events of the day will be the International Tourism Forum “Tourism 2030: Central Asia as a single tourist space”. The forum will bring together representatives of business, relevant ministries, international organizations and diplomatic missions. The agenda includes strategic development of tourism in the region, investment opportunities, digitalization of the industry, as well as presentations of new projects and tourism start-ups.

    The participation of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliyev is expected.

    The festive program will be opened by the International Issyk-Kul Marathon “Run the Silk Road - SCO”. Races for various distances. More than 2 thousand athletes from 15 countries are expected to participate.

    Also on the territory of the hippodrome there will be a tourist fair with the participation of tour operators, hotels and resorts. Visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with current offers for the summer season, as well as take part in drawings of vouchers and sightseeing tours. The fair will feature an ethnographic exposition, a gastronomy zone, master classes and entertainment for children. 

    In the afternoon, races for the Cup of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as competitions in national equestrian games will be held at the hippodrome. The day's program will be completed by a gala concert with the participation of Kyrgyz pop singers.

    During the May holidays, similar events dedicated to the start of the tourist season will be held in other regions of the country. In Chui Oblast - ecological actions, in Osh Oblast - cultural and concert programs. On May 5, Kyrgyzstan's first-ever Issyk Kul Six-Day Challenge ultramarathon will start on Issyk Kul, with athletes from the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Belarus taking part.

    Kyrgyzstan positions itself as a year-round tourist destination, but the spring and summer season remains key to attracting both domestic and foreign travelers.
