Construction of a small HPP on the Shamshy River in the Chui District is on schedule

The construction of a small HPP on the Shamshy River in Chui district is on schedule. This was reported by representatives of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund who visited the site. The project is being implemented as part of efforts to strengthen Kyrgyzstan's energy independence and meet the growing demand for electricity.

The 1.7-megawatt station will generate up to 10m kilowatt-hours annually - about 10% of Chui District's consumption. Funding of $1 million was provided by the Grand Magnate Company Fund in October 2024. This is one of 16 projects supported by RKDF in the energy sector, some of which have already been put into operation.

According to Artem Novikov, Chairman of the RKDF Board of Directors, the development of small-scale generation is the key to fulfil the tasks set by the President and the Cabinet of Ministers. The Fund intends to continue investing in the energy sector as a strategic industry that reduces the deficit and strengthens the country's sustainability.
