The Central Bank of Russia will issue a 1kg gold coin

On 2 December 2024, the Bank of Russia will put into circulation a gold coin with a face value of 10 thousand rubles, made of 1 kilogram of pure 999 gold.

It is one of the country's largest investment coins, with a diameter of 100 millimeters. The obverse side of the coin depicts the National Emblem of Russia, and the reverse side features a relief image of George the Victorious defeating a serpent.

Along with it, one more investment gold coin will be put into circulation - with a face value of 200 roubles. It weighs 31.1 grams and has a diameter of 33 millimeters. Both issues are made in high-quality ‘antsirkuleithed’, and their mintage will be up to 100 thousand pieces for a coin of 200 rubles and only 100 copies for a coin of 10 thousand rubles.

These coins are intended for investors, but are also legal tender in Russia.

Recall, recently the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan also presented a gold coin. The coin called ‘Aikkol Manas’ is made of 999.9 gold and weighs 15 grams. The coin was issued in order to popularise the oral folk art, preservation, and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people.
